“Sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.” Genesis 4:7b
Temptation grips your thoughts and holds them captive, relentless. One thought, one idea, one temptation, something that seems so small bouncing around in your head. Like a balloon full of air not yet tied at the end, let go in a small room. You struggle to get the thought out before you start to let it entertain you. You know that if you allow the thought to entertain you, you will eventually start to justify it in some way or another. It will turn into an action. It could and will destroy you and your life if you let it!
2 Corinthians 10:3-5 says “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.”
Did you catch that, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ! Not being obedient to Christ is a sin! Entertaining thoughts that are against the knowledge of God is a sin!
