One or two days away from my Father, my God makes a big difference in my attitude. I can feel it, and I know others around me can see it. When I haven’t spent time with God or I’m caught up in a sin- little or big, knowingly or unknowingly- I am impatient, unloving and controlling. I do what I want; I do what feels good in the moment only to regret it later. This, my friends is called walking in the flesh!
When I have been spending time with God I tend to be loving, accepting and more patient. I not only feel good in doing what’s right, but I feel good about it later. This is walking in the Spirit! It takes a lot more work and effort, but it is well worth it! I like the person that God is teaching me to be! 🙂
This is why sometimes I look and feel two faced. Every day I struggle to walk in the Spirit, but sometimes I mess up and find myself in the flesh.
“I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.” Galatians 5:16-18 (NKJV)
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit” Galatians 5: 22-25 (NKJV)
