Running the race

In 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 Paul compares a race with the goal of the finish line to the life of a Christian. As we are running the race of our life in Christ to get to the ultimate eternal finish line, we must stay spiritually toned. Just as we would need to if we were running a physical race. We exercise to stay toned physically also we must “exercise” spiritually. We can do that by reading our Bibles, praying, Bible studies, attending church, serving others, doing good, listening to the Holy Spirit and acting on what we learn from God and His word! There is a reward in a physical race to whoever finishes first. This reward is only a temporary reward. The race as a Christian has a eternal reward!

(1 Corinthians 9:24-27) “Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified”
